The late 19th Century industrial roots of the Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR) show through in its original structure while the space has embraced modernity. With new technologies, a commitment to environmental sustain- ability, versatility of space, and accessibility for all, the OGR has been repurposed as a modern cultural center in the heart of Turin.
Rail Industry Landmark
Officine Grande Riparazioni began life in 1895 as a major railway repair workshop between two Turin train stations. The largest industrial facility in the city, it was nearly demolished in the 1990’s before a major project to restore and redevelop it into a cultural events center was realized in the past decade.
Workshop For Ideas
Nowadays, the OGR has become a multifaceted hotspot for cultural programming including concerts, art installations, live performances, and educational events. As a multipurpose “workshop for ideas,” OGR is a creative space ideal for large-scale events, nonpareil for the city of Turin.
